| "CHIEF JOSEPH" NEDRA DENSION, ARTIST |
Nedra Denison
Nedra Denison, has been doing Pyrography since 1999, but her interest in art started as a child with her
medium of choice being oil painting. She continued painting until she suffered some personal/health challenges due to
stress from her job in 1992. She was unable to work and had lost her inspiration to paint. It was not until eight
years later, that her husband, Alan, a woodcarver, got her interested in wood carving and Nedra rediscovered her lost interest
in art but found that it had taken on a totally different meaning. Nedra's interest in wood burning started when she
was taking a wood carving class in 1999 at the Texas Woodcarvers Guild Spring Rally. She was sitting next to a group
of people who were wood burning and the smell was irresistible. The fascination immediately became a determination to
learn wood burning. So, armed with a new burner Nedra set out to teach herself the art of pyrography. Little did
she know that pyrography would be the therapy she needed to become productive again. Nedra has published three Pyrography
books and teaches pyrography to students of all skill levels.

| "LADY" ELMER GUNERSON, ARTIST |
Elmer Gunderson
Elmer Gunerson, was born and raised in Prince George British Columbia. I work with many of
the local woods such as cottonwood, fir, spruce, cedar, as well as exotic woods using both human figures and wildlife for
my subjects. Faces, human and animal, young and old, have always fascinated me. There is so much in a face; the
life one has led, or the possibilities of a life yet to come. I strive with each carving to capture not only the personalities
but their experiences of life as well. The greatest gift carving has given me is in some small way to inspire others
to experience nature on an intimate level. I hope it touches you as it moves me. It is my addiction to create
fine art from the products of our natural forests. My work ranges from small bark carvings for gifts to larger sculpture's
for private and corporate collections. My pieces can be found in gardens to galleries, from Canada to Europe and Asia.

|
|
| "GIRAFFES" CAROL GIERMANN, ARTIST |
Carol Giermann
Carol Giermann, started carving on her own in 1988. After carving a few questionable
looking critters out of found wood, I took a beginners course to help me learn to use a knife properly. During the first
class, the instructor stressed the importance of wearing a glove for protection. Also during that class a guy cut himself
so badly he was rushed to the hospital for stitches. The next week, everyone had gloves. In 1992, after
developing a serious love of animal carving, I took a three-day course with a woman I think is the best animal carver in the
U.S. and who has been recognized as one of the best by the International carving community: Desiree Hajny. It was fun
and very informative! Since then, I have created my own style, mostly using power tools with hand-carved details.
I still have that love of animal carving and have only carved one unrelated relief - a saguaro in bloom. Carol's "Giraffes"
won a Blue Ribbon in the Found Wood Category at the Mesa Desert Woodcarving Show & Sale in 2005. Carol

NANCY GRAVELOT
Nancy Gravelot, started carving in 2002 when my friend talked me into attending a Prescott
Wood Bee Carvers Club meeting. Since then I have tried my hand at carving in the round, wood burning, Cottonwood Bark
carving and power carving using a Dremel tool. I have had the opportunity to take classes with several well known carvers
including Steve Prescott, Sheila Hunter, Wanda Marsh, Skylar Johnson and Jim Willis to name a few. Althought I have
taken classes in West Glacier MT., Branson, MO. and the Rio Grande Valley, TX, my favorite place to attend carving classes
is at the Creede Woodcarvers Rendezvous in Creede, CO. It is held in July every year. The classes are held in
one of the former mines in the main part of town. The cougar was carved in a class at the Woodcarving Rendezvous held
in Branson, MO. Jim Willis was the instructor.

DAVE DUNLAP
Dave started wood carving in approximately 2001 while he and his wife Karen lived in
Colorado. The first thing that really interested him was chip carving. That is what mostly got him started. Everything kind
of grew off of that. Then he started doing some figure work out of basswood. His dolphins won several ribbons, he and Karen
co-carved 2 Hummingbirds that won ribbons too. After that he started carving a little bit of everything! Caricatures, Santa
Claus' , animals, you name it! Dave mailed off some of his carvings to different carving shows, and he always won ribbons.
Dave has varied interest in what he carves, and is always working on something.
